I hate “about” pages. I feel presumptuous when I write them. So, here’s the (mostly) honest to goodness truth, “about” me.
I’m a 30-something-ish, under/over-achieving, mom of three. I’m a military wife, homeschooler, and general household manager. You can try to spruce it up to make me sound more glamorous (CEO, CFO, child educator, chef, yada, yaya, yada), but the reality is I do just about everything for our family besides earn the money that sustains it (thanks Honey!).
Before I was married, eons ago, I wanted to be a marine biologist, then I wanted to be a photographer, then I wanted to be a corporate lawyer, then back to photography and focus on advertising. Bottom line, I didn’t know what I wanted to be/do, nor did I have the determination to follow through with any of it. Granted, I was side-tracked a bit when I married my best friend, then whoops, got pregnant right away and decided, what the hell, if we’re going to do this family thing, let’s do it! Higher education and my oh-so-exciting job as an admin were cut short for the time being and I started popping out kids.
Fast forward about 13 years and you’ll find yourself face to face with a former Mormon (I was just about as devout as could be), but now I love dry wines, beer, coffee, and tea too much to go back. I have continued doing photography as a hobby; one day, once I settle down, I’d love to build a dark room. I did go back to school, and have an AA in General Education and Social Science; as well as a BA in Intelligence Analysis. Eventually I want to start work on a Master’s degree, but life has been too hectic the past two years (and I haven’t decided what I want to study). I love cooking and baking (surprise!). I enjoy writing. I’m a nerd and a geek (only true dweebs will know the difference). I use “-” and ( ) too often, attempt to use sarcasm, and my inner monologue is much funnier than it sounds out-loud. I have lived all over the United States (Hubby is in the military, remember) and now, I get to try my hand at living “abroad”. Something that I find frightening & thrilling at the same time.
So, if you want to follow a blog written mainly as a journal and a means for sharing my totally-fantastic-amazeballs-nothingevergoeswrong life with family and friends, then grab a towel, sit down and enjoy the ride.
